Purple is a big fan of the future, and the logo she created is a hand-drawn saucer about to fly away. She finds it pleasurable to contemplate the future and believes that it can extend the imagination so far that there is always something for which one can find hope.

Constantly traveling for work to source vintage garments, textiles, and fabrics, Purple also has a special attachment to interior textiles because her Mom used to own a couple of curtain shops in Beijing. As a child, Purple spent most of her time there.

In 2021, Purple opened Pmhomny in Brooklyn and curated its first collection of rugs sourced from a village in the Atlas Mountains. Alongside of Pmhomny , Purple also opened a sister shop -PURMOU in China, with all the rugs sourced from Morocco.

Over the past couple of years, she visited many villages and different regions in the Atlas Mountains, spending time with Berber woman and learning the Berber rug weaving techniques. These experiences inspired her to create her own rug collection.By preserving the heritage of handmade rugs and using the same weaving techniques to achieve pinnacle quality, Purple's rug collection consists of modern thoughts and expressions that create something new, fun, and meaningful. They bring positive, optimizing energy to our homes.

Purple Mountain Rugs is a namesake rug brand created by Purple Zishan Li in 2023. Her name, in Chinese, means “Purple Mountain."

Purple is a fashion designer based in New York. She holds a degree in MFA Fashion Design & Society from Parsons and a BA in Fashion Design (Womenswear) from the London College of Fashion.
